Our Mission

To create the right ecosystem for entrepreneurship and business growth in the technology sector in the UK, assembling all of the key stakeholders in an active community where knowledge is shared and deals are done. Stakeholders include tech entrepreneurs, senior managers of technology companies, investors and financiers, technologists, service providers, and enablers from the public and private sectors, including government agencies and educational establishments.

Our Strategy

To build a programme of offline events to enable technology companies to learn, stakeholders to connect, and partnerships to form. To support this with a dedicated online community that leverages the latest in social and media technology to streamline access to valuable knowledge and best practice.

Our Team

Techcelerate is founded and run by Manoj Ranaweera with Nishani Ranaweera and Carol Roberts. Legal and financial advise is provided by Stuart Scott-Goldstone of Aaron & Partners and Steve Livingston of Horwath Clark Whitehill.

Our History

Manoj founded ebdex Ltd, a tech startup in 2004 after completing an Executive MBA at Manchester Business School. Manoj struggled to find the support he needed due to lack of established tech entrepreneurial networks in the North West. With the help of KPMG, TechCrunch UK and Ivan Pope, Manoj held the first event of Northern StartUp 2.0 in Nov 2006 in Manchester at IoD. Since then NS20 has grown into a community of more than 1600 individuals with a minimum of 10 events per year delivered in 2008 and 2009. In Feb 2009, Northern StartUp 2.0 was rebranded as Techcelerate to increase collaboration between early stage and established technology companies.
