Technical Lead
Technical Lead at Stardotstar / Ruby on Rails Devs
At Stardotstar, we’re looking for a passionate full-time Ruby on Rails Technical Lead to join us creating delightful content, tools and toys that improve people’s lives. If you love to build products that people love to use, then read on…
About Stardotstar: In the studio today we’re working on an enhanced story telling project to accompany a comedy drama for Channel 4, two IPTV prototypes for BBC, a data viz project for the Open University, and a diagnostics platform for the Institute of Physics and Royal Society of Chemists.
As IP developers, we have three products at different stages of development. The first will be a SaaS publishing platform to help 1000 non-profit organisations do what they do, better.
We’re extremely proud and passionate of the products and projects we deliver, and even more so of the very small team of Stardotstarlets who create them.
If you’re not from Manchester, we’re 2 hours on the train from London, a tram ride away from BBC and ITV at MediaCityUK, an hour away from Lake Districts and less from the Peaks, and we even have a Selfridges and Harvey Nick’s in the city centre if you’re into that kind of thing too. If you prefer to be a geek in the evenings, Manchester has a thriving nerd community GeekUp, Northern Digitals, Manchester Digital, NWRuG, MadLab, Open Data Manchester to name a few…)

Ric says:
“This role involves a massive amount of responsibility, and you need to be more than just a ‘techy’ – there’s a large creative aspect to the role, and you’ll need to be comfortable making decisions that affect the final product. In such a small but dynamic company, you need to understand the whole lifecycle of a project and be able to think on your feet. If you can handle all that, Stardotstar is a great place to work: the projects and clients are varied, and the team includes some of the best (and friendliest) people I’ve met in the industry.”
Absolutely no recruitment agencies please. If you describe yourself as a Rails ‘ninja’ or ‘rockstar’, we’re probably not interested. Beards optional.
